Dan, Blayne, Bridgette, and myself were all able to go to King's Dominion Theme Park this July, 2008. Bridgette and I rode the new coaster the Dominator, and the Crypt. Dan and I rode the Volcano. Dan and Blayne rode the Scooby Doo Roller Coaster. We all road the old timie cars, flying eagle, scooby doo's haunted mansion, and the go carts. Blayne rode several other kiddie rides. He was very dissappointed that he was not tall enough to ride the big coasters, but he had a blast!

Jamie's (Blayne's friend) B-day party; July 2008
Summer 2008
Well, before school ended Dannie had moved to Franklin, NC to join Job Corps. At this facility she will be able to earn her GED, get a skill trade, and a job. She did have a two week break and was able to join us on our vacation.
For our vacation we drove to TN (my parents house) stayed the night and drove the next day to Lake Livingston, TX. I have family there who own a lake house. We stayed there for almost a week and then came back to TN for a couple of days and then to Brevard, NC for a couple of days (Dan's brother Roger lives here). And finally back home.
While at the TX lake house we all rode the jet skis! Dan and I rode the yellow one together, me being the expert (ha ha) water person that I am tried to give him a good ride. During this good ride we ended up flipping the jet ski completely over and were able to flip it back over, only we did not read directions and did not turn it back over in the correct direction and it would not start!! We had to push, while swimming the jet ski back to the dock! Luckily we were not that far out! Obviously I did not get any photos, but it was hilarious.
Dannie is very athletic and wanted to learn how to water ski, so Dan, my cousin Mikie, and myself taught her how. It took her about 5 tries before she was able to get up. The water was rough so she was not able to stay up for very long, but she did ski. I hadn't skied since before Blayne was born, so I had to give it a whirl. I refused to use two skies so I solomned. I took me three tries but I made it and boy did it ever wear me out! Man, I used to be great at water skiing, but I am definitley out of shape and practice!

Sunday May 25th, Our 1st trip to the beach this Summer

Dan, Blayne, Dannie and I all went to the beach on Sunday! It was a beautiful day! The water is still cold for us old foaggies, but them young whipper snappers sure can handle it. Dannie and Blayne were able to play at the waters edge, but that was as far as they got. We grilled hmaburgers and did a little surf fishing, but we didn't catch anything but a few rays. Dannie called me Poccahontus (sp?) because I tanned and she got burnt. I forget my real camera and had to use my phone to take pictures. It was a trip we almost were not able to complete, because once we got onto the beach and stuck, we realized our 4wd was not working. A problem we have had before. Dan did not bring any tools and Dannie wanted to flag down the cute guys to help us. Luckily some nice guys with tools did stop to help, we got our 4wd fixed and were able to enjoy the rest of our adventure.

Tae Kwon Do
5/1/08
I have always been a fan of the martial arts and have yearned to take it myself. While attending TTU, I even took a PE Karate class and that I loved. The instructor tried to get me to join his regular class, but I was a poor college student and could not afford the class. I have now signed Blayne up for classes and he has a blast! Look out Papaw he can really beat you up now. I will be posting pics of him in his uniform soon. I might even decide to take up the sport! I can always use the exercise and someone is going to have to be able to keep with him! It was so cute watching him the first day! They were doing stretches and he was doing them too (kinda). You know the butterfly stretch, where you are somewhat indian style but your feet are touching each other and you try to touch your nose to your toes? Well, my son, brought his hands up to his nose instead of trying to put his nose on his toes. Later, I tried to explain to him that he was suppose to bend and try to put his nose to his toes and he said " ewe, but that's gross"!!
